Is it ok to learn the electric guitar before you learn the acoustic or is it better to learn the acoustic first?

Yes. There is no reason to learn acoustic first; the chords are the same either way.

Yeah it is totally okay, they have the same chords it’s just different tune but i prefer learning acoustic first because if you learn electric first then you’ll used to the sound and you’ll think you got the wrong note when you play the acoustic, Anyways your choice!..

I would say learn how to play with the acoustic guitar first. It’ll strengthen your fingers (you need more strength in producing a non-buzzing sound in an acoustic than in an electric. For example: It’s way easier playing a bar chord in an electric than in an acoustic) You’ll feel more confident when you finally get your hands on an electric guitar, and you’ll develop smoother playing.

It doesn’t really matter, but acoustic is harder to play so you can develop your technique better on an acoustic.
