What's a good FREE online forum for Classical Guitar playing discussion for beginners and experts?

15th June

I've dabbled a bit at guitarmasterclass.com, but since I am in a very low income situation right now, I just cannot afford to pay for access to their higher end content. After I graduate, I'll probably sign up there, but that's still a good year or so from there. It seems a shame to waste a year.

Is there a place like that where experts are friendly and don't mind chatting technical stuff with the general public?

I'm talking about discussing really fine details about technical aspects of playing here.

I have a few online acquaintances who are willing to give pointers, but in the absence of an actual class/teacher, it is difficult to learn some of the more challenging things on my own.

(I'm living abroad for my studies, and there are no classes that suit me here.)
Hi flock. I leave my email open. Why don't you?

Yeah, I was talking about discussion, not teaching. Perhaps you have heard of something called a 'tip'.

You know, things like 'where do you find the best placement for your thumb for getting the best vibrato with the first finger on the fretboard?'

Also, you may have heard of something called 'video'. It's a very good method of transmitting information.

Oh and as far as your little hissy fit about wanting things for free. I am a Uni student studying abroad on a scholarship program right now. I'm willing to pay for lessons once I have my money freed up, but for now, it's just trying to learn all by myself.

Now incidentally, I have a few high value skills myself and I've never been so haughty that I would feel that my skills are too valuable to share with others. There's a word for that attitude, but it's not appropriate for YA.

acapella.harmony-central.com

I have over 6,000 posts on there, and it is a very helpful site. I highly suggest checking out the Acoustic Forum. Quite possibly one of the most popular forums among professional musicians.

Ultimate-Guitar is full of people who know nothing about gear… It's actually pretty funny how many 14 year old metalheads are on it.

Which type of bass guitar is easier for a beginner to learn on?

15th June

I've been wanting to learn how to play the bass guitar. I just wanted to know if the acoustic bass better for beginners or is the electric bass easier to learn on? Also I am not sure of what brand of bass is the best. If you know of any websites to help me learn please post them. Thanks so much!

Ok, well easier to learn on is kind of open ended, because they are the same instruments note wise, so everything you learn will transpose from one to the other, but an electric bass guitar will be much easier on your hands and fingers when you first start. An electric will be much heavier and require an amplifier, but it will be much easier to play. Also, acoustic bass guitar music isn't very popular, so influences would be tough to come by.

As far as brands, I've heard nothing but awesomeness about SX bass guitars. They are super cheap, but have the right specs (good body wood) and are apparently pretty nice players. http://www.rondomusic.com/bassguitars4.html

classical guitar beginner

Please rate or comment. This is my son a few years ago. At age 9, he had earned his black belt and wanted to learn guitar. This is when he was 13 years old. He took one 30 minute lesson a week for 2 years and played at the local open mic sessions at Pensacola Beach. It was the first time he played in front of over 200 people, through an electric amplifier. Yeah he missed a couple of notes, but what the hey. He is now a guitar shreading metal guitarist.

Needled 24 7 Drums

15th June

This a video of me playing “Needled 24/7″ by “Children of Bodom” on drums. I was not able to play the song as the original because there was no way I could have played the bass drum that fast in the time I had to learn it, so instead I played blast beats in the fast double bass sections and a general feel for the rest.
I didn’t try to play it exaclty how C.O.B play it because: 1. I’m not that good yet and 2. I was playing it for my music asessment. And I know that I didn’t play it like C.O.B so please, don’t bother saying it.
Sorry about the sound quality, the camera wasn’t exactly in the best spot for this recording because all of the guitar amps were to my left, and you couldn’t hear the bass drum aswell :(
Thanks to all the people who helped me with this :)
